Day by day Kalymnos sailing and climbing course

DAY 1
Flight to Kos and meeting at the Kos Airport. Transfer to the Marina and accommodation on the boat.
Sailing from Kos to Telendos, typical village on a small Island with no roads, just half a mile off Kalymnos. Dinner in a teverna and sleeping on the boat.

DAY 2
Breakfast on board, we check the individual climbing equipment, transfer to the shore, walk to the cliff for the first climbing day. The choice of the cliff will depend on the technical level of the climbers. In the afternoon on the way back to the boat a refreshing swim. Another dinner in the village of Telendos.

DAY 3
After breakfast we sail the short distance to the village of Emborios, the northernmost settlement on the Island of Kalymnos. We will take advantage of this time to learn some basic rules of sailing. In Emborios we sill walk to one of the 8 climbing sectors just above the village. Second climbing day when we can put into practice the suggestions and advice obtained during the first day. In the evening a dive in the crystalline water of the bay and super dinner at Harry’s Paradise, probably the best restaurant on the Island.

DAY 4
Early breakfast and sailing to a new destination hopefully powered by wind. We pass the north cape of Kalymnos and follow the East coast south to Sykati Bay. The pitches are only meters away from the clear water of the bay. One more climbing day, we can improve our technique and in the late afternoon when the last climbers will be gone we can enjoy the beauty of this bay where there are no houses. Dinner this time on board.

DAY 5
We move from Sykati to Palonissos Bay, another magic corner with a pebble beach, green turquoise water and 2 beautiful climbing sectors. It is the 4th day, the right time and place to start the first pitches as first climber. You’ll remember this experience! In the evening you have a choice between the 2 tavernas of the bay.

DAY 6
Early breakfast and one more chance to try the cliffs of Palonissos Bay. Later we sail to the little harbor of Vathy, the end of the only farmed valley of the island, like an oasis in a barren, rocky landscape. Dinner and evening in the small square overlooking the tiny fisherman port.

DAY 7
This is a day of sailing, first a short leg to Pothia, the main town on the Island, then the crossing to Kos. If the prevailing winds are blowing, it is the right occasion to practice all we have learned in the previous days. Evening in the town of Kos will feel very fancy and crowded after a week in Kaymnos between nature and sport. We sleep in the Marina.

DAY 8
Depending on the flight schedule we might have the chance to visit some great historical sites in Kos, the home town of Hippocrates.

The program will be updated every day by the guide and the skipper, with the group members, after knowing the expectations of everyone, the weather forecast and the sea conditions.
