Day by day program Gran Paradiso Haute Route:

1st day: Transfer from Milano Malpensa Airport or Torino Caselle Airport to Cogne (1534 m) in one of the side valleys of the main Valle d’Aosta. On the way we pass by Aosta City, we stop for a quick break and we do together the checking of the equipment you need for the week. Any gear you need or is missing we will rent in Aosta. From Aosta after approximately one hour we reach Cogne, where we stay the night in the cozy Hotel Ondezana. A nice dinner with a couple of glasses of the tasty Enfer d’Arvier wine in front of the fire will give us the first approach with the atmosphere of the Italian Alps.

2nd day: Little transfer to Valnontey (1666m) where we start the climb with skins to Rifugio Vittorio Sella (2584m). In the afternoon we do a little warming-up climb checking the snow conditions with a snow profile and scanning the best itinerary for the next day.

3rd day: From Rifugio Sella we climb up to Gran Serra (3552m) and we ski down the glacier Timorion and then all the way to the valley to reach Eau Rousses (1660m) where we’ll get a nice shower and a wanderfull dinner at the Hostellerie du Paradis.

4th day: Meeting in the morning with a second guide that will join the group, if more then 4 guests, for the 2 days of the climb of the Gran Paradiso. Easy day with just the climb up to Rifugio Chabod (2750m), saving the energy for the next big day.

5th day: It’s the summit day! We climb up to main summit of Gran Paradiso (4061m) and we enjoy the long run down to Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II (2730m). Good by drink with the second guide at the hut.

6th day: From Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II we climb up to Colle del Gran Paradiso (3345m), down to the Bivacco Ivrea (2770), up again to Colle dei Becchi (2990m) and finally a long run down to Rifugio Pontese (2200m)  where Mara will feed us with the best Paradise food and wine!

7th day: Long climb up to the steep Colle di Teleccio (3304m), ski down the Vailette Glacier all the way to Lillaz (1617m) where we’ll have a big dinner at the Hotel Ondezana again.

8th day: Transfer back home.

The program will be updated every day by the guide with the group members, after knowing the expectations of everyone, the weather and the snow conditions.

Detailed Pricing and Booking

Our guiding prices for this all-inclusive are based on the group size (I’ve seen it, take me to the BOOKING FORM)

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Price Includes
– 6 days guiding with one UIAGM mountain guide. A second guide will join the group for the 2 days of the climb of the Gran Paradiso if will be more then 4 members in the group.
– 2 nights accommodation half-board in Hotel Ondezana in Lillaz, Cogne and 4 nights half-board in mountain huts.
– Transfers from Milano Malpensa or Torino Caselle Airport to Cogne and back are included.

Not included
– Lift passes and extra transfer if we have to change the itinery in case of bad weather.
– Lunches and drinks in the huts/hotels.
– Mountain rescue insurance:

– Avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, backpack and glacier equipment if required.
– ABS backpack and the ski touring gear is not included but we can arrange for it.

We also recommend that you wear your ski protection helmet.

Group size: max. 7 people per guide. Private groups only.

This is the “classic” program but other options are available and we can also tailor a program to suit you.

All of these programs must be booked in advance in order to secure hotel and huts accommodation.
